were making a pan of cornbread and putting my sister down for a nap on the day that I was born.

have worked long hours in the field on the family farm.

held me and wiped my tears on the day that my house burned and I lost my very favorite tricycle.

held on for dear life as her heart wanted to give up many years ago.

played for hours with mine in the kitchen with a big tub of flour.

have logged many hours on the Nintendo game controller.

clapped for me over and over again as I jumped around the front yard.

have held and loved on both of my babies.

once broke when picking up a very large cantalope in the garden.

always patted my back when I came over to their house and took a nap.

have written many letters to friends over the years.

welcomed me into the house almost every single day of my life before I got married.

taught me how to shell a lot of peas.

have built many kitchen cabinets for extra space.

swatted my rear a few times when I was a kid.

taught me how to drive.

have smoked a lot of cigarettes.

took me on many rides on the "hoopty-do".

have held the Holy Bible close as each word was read.

have guided me, hugged me, and loved me for almost 40 years.

have been known to flip "the bird" on more than one occasion.

have carried some long big sticks as we went on walks down the lane together.

baked many chocolate pies.

canned a lot of fruit preserves.

have wrapped many strips of fabric in my hair to make the perfect curl.

have prayed for me and many others through the years.

But now These Hands have aged, grown weak & tired, and are unable to do anything for themself. I am so very sad, but so very grateful for the countless things that I have learned from them. I love These Hands and the precious grandma that goes with them. I will treasure and be thankful for each moment that I still have to hold onto them.

Last week was homecoming and it was a fun week of shopping for ribbon, hot gluing fingers together, and tying on lots of bells! It was fun and the girls had a blast!

Celebrating 16 years in Hochatown!

September 9th, we celebrated 16 fabulous years together by heading to HOCHATOWN! We rented the cutest little cabin and had the BEST time together!

Hochatown (right out of Broken Bow, OK) has a little something for everyone.....

Glen was happy....

and I was happy.....

We shared a picnic at the lake with some really aggressive biting flies, went for a walk and found some guineas, watched movies, discovered a cool really old statue, and sat for a long time watching the hummingbirds fight over the feeder.

Our cabin was so adorable and had the coolest stone fireplace that we had ever seen!

I kind of fell in love with Hochatown and fell in love with my sweetheart of 16 years all over again!!

Happy Anniversary to my dearest, bestest friend in the world!

These will be the BEST years of your life! Enjoy each and every moment! I know I will!WOW! 5th grade! Seems like a blink ago you were holding that gobby & my neck so tight, not letting me go as I took you to your first day of Sonshine!! You are such a beautiful spunky 10 year old! We were only 2 days away from breaking a Heat Wave Record, when suddenly the clouds rolled in on Thurday afternoon.....

The temp dropped and we watched & waited for the rain that never came......

Hallie even pulled out her hat when the temps took a dive into the low 90's, but soon the clouds rolled on, the sun came out, and we were 2 days shy of breaking a record.......
So it was back to the pool.
Suffering through 40 days of 100+ degree weather deserves some kind of recognition.
As one of my FB friends put it: "It felt like winning the Silver Medal, when we should've won the GOLD!"

Spending time at the lake with our dear friends and family.

and running into childhood friends who also loves him some Fuzzy's.

Mom's Surgery Through iPhone Photos

I have been on somewhat of a blogging vacation as the summer started off with a bang!

The last week of school mom had a big surgery and I captured all of the excitement (with her permission) that I could on my new iPhone, which explains why I took a "blogging vacation"......I just now figured out how to put my pictures from my phone onto the computer! Just call me the Computer Whiz Kid!!

So here is Mom's Big Surgery Adventure as captured on my phone.......

After surgery was over, an afternoon on a vent and a few days in ICU caught us all off guard a little, as I kept telling her, "this won't be any big deal!"

wooops! Nurse Know-It-All strikes again!
This little button that administered her pain medicine quickly became her best friend for the 1st few days.
From where I sat most of the time, the view wasn't too exciting,
Just lots of pumps, buttons, buzzers, and a mom who was always asleep OR awake talking "crazy"!
The girls came to visit their Nana, to try and cheer her up....
as she received a couple of blood transfusions.
BUT....she was usually in no mood for our humor and we were all quickly booted to the waiting room, where we did alot of fake smiling as we......
watched others who were also sharing the waiting room with us.
We got plenty of time to play with all the new phone apps....

while mom slept ........
and slept some more.

I vote St. Paul as one of the BEST hospitals that I have ever been into, but with the WORST chairs ever!
After 9 days in the hospital, we finally got to pack up all of her exciting hospital gear and take her home!
Hallie was first to get Nana whipped back into shape in the hair and make up department.....
We are all so glad that that ordeal is over and that our Nana is back to her old self again!
We love you Nana and glad that you are WELL!

Poor sweet Abby!

All day Monday she was doing the "reverse sneeze". The very dramatic snort that dogs often do, and sounds like they are going to croak any minute! She does this often, so I wasn't phased. BUT.....when I got home from work that evening, she was outwardly sneezing uncontrollably! Like 40-50 times a minute! She could not sit still, roaming, panting, sneezing, wanting to be held, wanting to be let down, very uncomfortable. So I decided to give her Benadryl, and run her up to the 24 hour Vet Clinic. As I was holding her, getting the phone number of the clinic, she began foaming at the mouth, bubbles coming out of her nose, her eyes glazed over, and SHE QUIT BREATHING!! The professional nurse that I am......totally freaked out, just knowing that I had just killed her with Benadryl! I started shaking her all around, pumping on her stomach (you know official dog CPR, I guess?), screaming for Glen and the girls to get in the car!

We hustled up to the Doggy ER, which may I add, Glen should really open up a Pet Ambulance Service, with his "speed racing, but not get a ticket" driving he did that night...all on an EMPTY gas tank (don't judge)!!

By the time we arrived at the ER, of course, the Benadryl had kicked in, Abby was panting freely, sneezing a little, and smiling. The front desk lady quietly asked, " so your dog has a sneeze?"

SERIOUSLY....it WAS ALOT worse 10 minutes ago!!

Meanwhile, I look around the clinic to see a family of about 10 in a room all crying their eyes out as they had just lost their furry family friend, another family covered in blood as their dog had just lopped his paw off....and here I am with a sneezy Yorkie, WHO I WAS SURE NEEDED A VENTILATOR!

The front desk lady I believe was mocking me.

Lucky for us, the sneezing got alot worse, and it appeared like we sort of needed to be there by the time the vet saw us. He shot her up with some steriods, Afrin, and more Benadryl, and gave her a diagnosis of "sinus infection".

Glen just shook his head and laughed at me......a "sinus infection, really"!?

Thankfully, she is improving! Still sneezing her head off though. Glen thinks she has a bad case of the MO! He thinks she is allergic to him.

Speaking of MO he is at the groomer, getting all of his hair shaved off, just in case Glen is right.

Happy Monday from MO!

Mo continues to grow like a weed, eat everything in sight, and keeps my pocketbook smokin' hot at the vet!

This week it's a staph infection on his skin.......treated with Keflex (which of course, He loves!) He is the only dog I have ever had that doesn't need the medicine disguised in a hunk of meat.

Apparently, it makes him very thirsty too! He has finally discovered that giant wonderful water bowl that NEVER goes dry!

The month of May has brought us perfect weather, and MO LOVES to play ball out in the backyard, he prefers to BAT or at least run from us with the bat!

We love our MO!

I packed my baby onto a BIG BIG BUS this morning and sent her off to Austin for her 4th grade Field Trip! Of all the AMAZING things that she will get to see today.....the State Capitol, maybe a glimpse of Obama (as he travels into Austin this afternoon), possibly a chat with Governor Rick Perry, a tour around an awesome historical museum......she was MOST excited about getting a peek inside the BIG BUS BATHROOM!

She even promised me that she would take a picture of it for ME!!

MO gave me his own Mother's Day gift, a whole roll of paper towel....shredded. He loves me!
Last week started with Glen getting a wild hair and cutting out all of the cabinets in our game room? Apparently it is time for a remodel.

I had a photoshoot with some ADORABLE little boys! Look at the RED HAIR! Loved those little cuties! Prince Harry ain't got nothing on that little blue-eyed beauty!

Friday I got to go back in time to 1912 during Immigration Day at CES. I was the nurse on Ellis Island that examined the immigrants before they entered the states. What a fun day! The kids were great and were very convincing!! My favorite part of the day was when I ran into the post office on my break and the postmaster thought I was a "Singing Telegram"!

Sunday we hosted Mother's Day at our house.

We celebrated all of the mothers in our family and had so much fun!I had such a wonderful day!! I LOVE my girls, they make being a mom the easiest job in the world! I thank God everyday for HIS gift of allowing me to be their mom, what an AMAZING job! I am truly blessed and ever so lucky!!

Three pounds of bacon & 1/2 a pork loin that was cooked and placed on the kitchen cabinet, Glen's glasses, a light bulb, countless ball point pens, and my camera's memory card fell victim to MO's digestive system this past weekend!

I was hoping the bacon would grease the way for the camera card to come out...

but it just made him sleep really good!

I admit it.

I'm so excited about the Royal Wedding!

I remember when I was 10 years old, my sister was 14 and we all woke up at 3 am and watched the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana back in 1981.

Here we are 30 years later and tomorrow at 3am, I will attempt to get my 10 year old and 14 year old girls up to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate.

(let's be honest, I know I'll probably just DVR it!)

BUT! First, I must call the State of Texas Education Department and ask,

"WHO IN THE WORLD scheduled the 8th grade TAKS test on the same day as the ROYAL WEDDING!!!??"

For Pete's Sake!!

Don't they know that we've got some TV to watch tomorrow!!

But seriously, amidst all of the sad, horrific, unhappy news that is continually streaming into our living rooms through the TV, I am genuinely excited about the events of tomorrow!

Honestly, I think we could all use a day filled with fairy tale weddings, a handsome Prince and a beautiful Princess, gorgeous gowns, and fluffy~frilly hats of all colors & sizes.

(Personally, I will be watching just to see what that step-monster Camilla will be wearing!) So as I countdown for the big event I will continue to polish my tiara.......

and plan the Royal "TAKS" Breakfast that will be served in the morning!

MO has a new friend, his name is JO.
JO is a faithful friend.
JO shows up every night, BUT only at night.JO only stands at the window when MO stands at the window.
JO only makes the moves that MO makes.

JO only barks when MO barks, and they bark WILDLY at each other.

JO looks just like MO and even wears the same collar.

MO and JO will stand and stare at each other for hours, or at least until the lights go out and JO goes home.

Personally, I think that MO is more interested in JO, than JO is interested in MO though!

In the past week, I have heard on the news of TWO different restaurants that "accidently" served alcohol to a baby and got them DRUNK!

I don't know, but I just think that if I was the waitress, when I went to replace the lid on one of these.....

that would trigger something in my head that said, "SANGRIA DOES NOT GO IN HERE!"

It seems to me that people are just getting stupider by the day.

(just an observation.)

Movies, Nails, and Mystery Felines

I took the girls to see Soul Surfer after school......... Three Thumbs UP for this great, inspiring movie about NEVER GIVING UP! WOW! Then it was off to the Nail Salon AGAIN........for Riley to get these babies!! I'm getting the feeling my kids are spoiled. (I don't know, just a feeling.)

Then we came home to find this little guy, with the smooshed in, bleeding head? If we hadn't taken his picture, I would've thought that was maybe a dream because he stayed around like a split-second and then he dashed off never to be seen again? Poor little thing.

It was a Happy Monday, well I don't think his was, but we had fun!

Our weekend full of fun started off with a date with one of my favorite gals in the whole wide world!!

We hit our first hot spot....

Celebrity Cafe & Bakery! mmmmmm...Cupcakes and Dr. Pepper!

Then it was off to the nail salon for manis & pedis to make us pretty for the baby shower we were attending the next day! (and so my feet would stop sounding like VELCRO sticking to my sheets.......uh-hu!! SEXY! I know!)

Then we did some shopping at Charming Charlies and of course, TARGET!

Saturday started early with a fun baby shower for Baby Adelynn who is due in about 7 weeks!! Can't wait to hold that little one! It's been a long while since I got to sniff a newborn sweet-smelling baby!! These grandmas, great-grandmas, aunts, uncles, and friends are way excited too!

Then we scooted off to Outdoor World where the Rattlesnakes were wildly slithering everywhere (in their cage) and Hallie found a new friend to campout with!A great weekend was had by all!

1/2 cup of chopped green bell pepper

1/4 cup of chopped red onion

1 cup of shredded cheese

Mix with 2 tablespoons of Mayo (I used Hellmans...because its more fattening..mmmm)

Chill for about one hour

Then stir in a baggie full of crushed Chili Cheese Fritos

SERVE and ENJOY!

Our Spring Break Finale was spent at the Gaylord in Grapevine!

What a great time we had!

First, Glen surprised the girls with a shopping spree and then we headed off to the hotel for a night of fun!

We walked around the beautiful hotel, taking in all the scenery....

got some pictures drawn of the girls,

had a yummy dinner on the "Riverwalk", it felt just like we were in San Antonio!

Then we went to the room to...

jump on the beds, watch a movie, and eat a ton of desserts!

It was a fantastic ending to a fantastic Spring Break 2011!

Friday night everyone said an official goodbye to Harris HEB's Inpatient Rehab. After working there for 8 years, I said my personal goodbye about a year ago, when I felt it was time for me to move on. HEB closed the doors to Rehab a couple of weeks ago, leaving many of my friends there without a job. We had a nice dinner together at On The Border,

the official "Farewell To Rehab" party.

We celebrated with some ball chasing and a bath! We love this big kahuna, but he sure is taking over the house!

You know its getting bad when you have to start putting the furniture up on the kitchen counters! He kept just shredding the top of this poor stool, this was the only safe place that I could find!

Then it was off to IHOP for lunch with a hysterically funny friend who kept us laughing and we also took a trip back to the 70's--80's....
Do you remember the FOTOMAT?

I'm tellin ya.....that used to be my DREAM JOB! I would've LOVED to sit in that little booth all day long and take people's film that was in that little envelope. Didn't it take like a week then to get your pictures back? I remember when they carted off the FOTOMAT that sat on HWY 26 across the street from North Hills Mall (Sanger Harris, anyone?!).......I was really sad and it was then I knew I had to find a new dream job.

We did some shopping to walk off the delicious IHOP, and counted the people wearing green...quite alot I might add!

Riley's one big purchase on her wish list was to get a pair of VANS! HELLO!? CHECKERED VANS!! 1980! She was NOT amused, but I sure was and how excited was I when she picked these babies!?......................

I heart the 80's!!!! and I MISS the FOTOMAT!!

Planes, Trains, & Automobiles

We started off in an AUTOMOBILE....

traveling to the AIRPORT......

to catch a BUS.....

to catch another BUS......

that took us to the TRAIN station.......

that took us to Dallas.

We had so much fun on our day trip with Mom & Dad that included a fabulous lunch, a walk around the West End, and a visit to the 6th Floor Museum & the "famous" Grassy Knoll.

After our exciting afternoon, it was back on the TRAIN, to get on the BUS, that took us to the other BUS, that drove us to the AIRPORT, to get in our AUTOMOBILE and take it back home!

Thanks Mom & Dad for a GREAT day and my very 1st TRAIN ride!

Spring Break 2011 has started off with lots of fun!

First a photoshoot with my pregnant adorable friend......

Dinner and a card game with good friends....

the losers ended up doing lots of push-ups!

Then it was off to do some ice skating! I haven't been on ice skates in like 12 years, but my friend and I lasted longer than the kids!!

Ah, yes! Just like ridin' a bike!!

Except that sadly, I'm so sore today, I can barely walk!

This week Mo ate a dum-dum sucker stick, an In-Touch Magazine, a volleyball, and $3.00.He more like shredded the magazine (see above) and volleyball, I would hate to see him swallow a volleyball whole, BUT I bet in a couple of more weeks, he just might be able to!

He also got to take a trip to the vet for some routine shots and the regular "temp taking"......woweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! His one little EYE got as big as a saucer when that thing went ....ummm.....in his tailpipe!

He did great, and got a glowing report, with the exception of the result from a skin scrape that showed he has "mites"....................then this conversation came next:
Vet: "Yep, he has mites."
Me: "MITES!! WHAT?!"
Vet: "Yes, you'll need to bring him in every week for the next couple of months to be dipped." cha-ching!!
Me (wildly scratching my head): "Go back...MITES!? Can I catch them?"
Vet: "No."
Me: "Can my other dog get them?"
Vet: "No, all dogs have them."
Me (by this time...wildly scratching my head & neck) : "WHAT?!"
Vet: "Yep, even you & I have them."
Hallie (apparently the SMARTEST person in the room): "Aren't those just called germs?"
Vet: "Sort of like that."

Bring him in EVERY WEEK FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS??
I'm thinking that probably won't happen, we'll just stay home, save some money, and enjoy EACH OTHER'S MITES.

is what I told Hallie after she ROCKED her solo part in her Honor Choir performance! So proud of her for even trying out for the part! I have always secretly wanted to be an amazing singer on stage (you see, how I tried very hard to dress like Hallie...she did make me go and change my black pants, saying that "was just a bit too much!"..haha! It WAS REALLY just a coincidence)...but.....sadly, I can't sing....and would never have the guts to get up and even try! So I am so proud of her for DOING IT! and DOING IT WELL!

I do not know these families or even know where they live, but their stories of unbelievable faith during the darkest, most horrible nightmare any mother could face are truly inspiring. Welcome to the 1st MO MONDAY!

Wow!

Seems like forever ago since Mo was under that Christmas tree!

Then he was 4 weeks old and 4lbs.

Now he is 14 weeks and 30lbs!

He likes to chase wiffle balls and tennis balls.
He like to eat anything and everything....

breath mints
wooden spoons

plastic spoons
turkey basters

carpet

pillow stuffing

hoodie strings

bananas

Abby's food

rocks

cucumbers

sticks

pretty much anything not nailed down!

He gets up about 2 times a night to go outside and do his business.

He still likes to sleep under our bed, probably not much longer though, as

our bed already kind of goes bumpity, bump, bump when he crawls under it.

Poor little Abby still does not like nor accept Mo as a part of the family.

He likes to SIT on her.

But we love this big hunk of chocolate
and

One Fabulous February!

February started out with an unplanned Family Lock-In after a huge ice storm froze the town for 5 days! School was closed all week! So we just used its parking lot as our ice rink and enjoyed day after day of watching the news for school closings, lots of baking, eating, sleeping...... playing games together....."Minute To Win It" was a popular favorite......
we made paper snow flakes and snow angels to hang around the house.....

and just enjoyed the peaceful quietness that a big snowstorm can bring!

After many days frozen inside our home, we finally got to get out and celebrate Hallie's 10th birthday with dinner and shopping at the mall with a couple of good friends.

And then....the FEVER set in......BIEBER FEVER that is! We attended the Midnight Premiere of Justin Bieber's new movie, "Never Say Never" and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!

So much that we've seen it THREE more times and we have all fallen ill with BIEBER FEVER!

We celebrated Glen's 41st Birthday....as he slept.

Had a lunch full of laughs (and good birth control) with two very precious friends of mine and their adorable 2 year olds!

Hallie's 4th grade class was on a Channel 8 newscast celebrating their efforts to help their friend out who had lost everything in a house fire by hosting a Bake Sale and raising almost $2000 for him and his family! Channel 8 was so impressed by these amazing 10 year olds with giant hearts of gold that they featured them on their Rachel's Challenge segment of the 10 o'clock news and made us all cry!

My pepa turned 91 at the end of the month and we are so blessed to have him! and we even put him on a party hat to prove it!

So as February comes to a close, I look back and remember a super fun month packed with family, friends, and lots of laughs!

Looking forward to March and the beautiful warmer Spring weather.....

We've had a HUGE ICE STORM completely freezing Super Bowl Week here in Texas!

School has been closed for three days and it seems that everything has been frozen solid!

What was planned to be a BIG TIME money maker of a week for this part of the South, has turned out to be a bust.

Speaking of BUST....I'm thinking we are going to bust out of this house today and venture downtown to see who, if anyone, has shown up for the Super Bowl yet! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.......I know Access Hollywood is already there.....I, personally, would be happy to see Maria Menounos!

"Marley & Me" ...Part II...Our Very Own Sad Ending.

Because it has been almost two years since we lost our Sally girl, and now that we have our sweet Mo, I finally braved it and watched Marley & Me! Big Mistake! Big! My eyes have been red & swollen all day! I had to repost my own Marley & Me...Part II that I wrote in honor of my sweet ole girl, Sally on April 23rd, 2009. I still miss her & Sam so much and this movie brought back so many hysterical memories! I think they would really love Mo!

I have yet to bring myself to see "Marley & Me", but after what we went through on Monday with our precious 13 year old Lab, Sally...I should be able to breeze right through it! Our hearts are broken that we lost her. She became very ill over the weekend and by Monday morning she was unable to even lift her head. She was experiencing kidney failure, heart failure, and had lost all movement in her bottom half. Glen was determined to carry her wherever she needed to go and anxiously asked if I had even tried to sit her up after I called him Monday morning to tell him it was painfully obvious what this had come to. We were about to experience our very own sad ending.

Just as Sally was right next to Sam, 2 years ago, as he quietly ran to the "Rainbow Bridge", Glen & I are so happy and honored to have been with our sweet Sally, hugging her face as she trotted off ever so bravely.

We got Sally when she was 6 weeks old, she was the runt of the bunch and was the 1st to jump right out of her bed and leap into my lap. She picked us!! We already had Sam, he was a year old and considerably LARGER than Sally. We attempted to keep them apart the first day, but they had different plans and were ready to meet each other and play immediately. 1st game: Sam rolling Sally around the yard like a small black ball. I called Glen screaming, "He's gonna kill her!" He assured me that they would be fine and they were. Best Friends until the very end and now it comforts me to know that they are together again.

We miss our Sally Girl and forever will.

She was a gorgeous black, enormous chunk of sweetness!

She was the mother of 44 puppies throughout her long life.

She was Sam's partner in crime, escaping with him whenever the opportunity arose to scout the neighborhood. Once getting run over and having to have her right front leg sewn back on!

She loved to eat entire loaves of bread, package and all. While passing through the house she never would miss the chance to pop into the pantry and do a little "smash & grab" with the bread.

She loved to sit in the driveway with us with her head under our arms.

She loved Milkbones.

She HATED thunderstorms.

She loved to howl at sirens passing by, until she lost her hearing and didn't know they were going by.

She loved cookouts and thanks to Glen enjoyed her last grilled hamburger on Sunday night.

She always had gas and wasn't afraid to use it!

She loved to grab Sam from behind and "play piggyback" until the sun went down!

She loved the pool. Not to swim, but only to lie on the tanning ledge to cool off and watch everyone else swim.

She liked to "play" with baby rabbits! (She never meant to hurt them, they were just too small.)

She loved to rub through our landscape plants and throw her head back with her tongue out while doing it.

She loved to walk the fenceline every morning. I am so thankful that I stopped to watch her as she walked last Friday morning, as this was her last time.

She loved for me to keep a light on for her at night.

She loved to sit under the trampoline while the girls jumped on top.

She loved our girls to lay on her, with her, around her, & just be with her.

We loved Sally and we are sick without her.

I hope and pray that she is now the beautiful, happy, and healthy puppy that leaped into our laps and into our hearts so long ago...running, playing, and piggybacking once again with the love of her life, Sam.

We miss & love you both terribly!

14 In A FLASH!

WOW! She turned 14 in a FLASH!!

Seems like only yesterday we were waiting for her to arrive! She celebrated her big day with a small group of friends, eating dinner, and shopping in the local Town Square. These parties are getting easier as they get older!

I stole this idea from another blog I saw. It was so fun going through old pictures to find one from each year of her life! WOW! It DID go by in a FLASH!!

National Champs and Crazy Mamas!!

My daughter's 8th grade cheer team competed in the ACA National Cheerleading Competition this weekend! After months of practicing, sweating, dancing, & cheering they took home first place! First place earns you a National Title to brag about at school, a banner to hang in the school gym, a trophy that is as tall as the cheerleader posed as a scorpion on top of the pyramid, and the COVETED NATIONAL CHAMPION JACKET!! Let me tell you it is allllll---and I do mean ALLL about the jacket. uhhh-huu!! My girl hasn't taken that jacket off since they crowned her with it!

Other cheerleaders not so lucky! The minute they got their "jacket" their crazy mama swiped it and wore it through the streets of downtown like they earned it all on their own, reliving their "glory days" of junior high cheer. (Not me, I couldn't fit in that tiny thing.....yes, guilty, I tried.)

The weekend was exhausting, mixed with lots of fun all balled into one big "GO COLTS!" I enjoyed all the crazy mama watching......I witnessed many "seat saving Nazi mamas", a few "crazed red lipstick yielding mamas", a whole bunch of "seat bouncing, toe-tapping mamas", a whole big group of "aluminum covered cardboard cutout sign holding mamas", a handful of homemade light-up poster-making mamas", and just a few "bored out of their minds, but all-around good sport" daddies (ours included)!

Congratulations to my sweet girl and her team for all of their hard work, dedication, and amazing talent that made this an exciting National Champion weekend for us all!!

The BIG Arctic Storm (fail) of 2011

We woke up this morning READY for some SNOW!

The night before, the weatherman had promised some of the white stuff in the form of a couple of inches, so we were ready when the sun came up!

BUT....when we got up, all there was was rain.

So....we sat by the window and watched and waited..... got bored with waiting, so we napped......
then we baked cookies....
then we watched and waited some more....

and FINALLY! It started falling!
WE HAD SNOW!!!
But as quick as it came......it was outta here even quicker....
and this is the only snowman we got today!

My Favorite Christmas Recipe!

NeNa's Homemade STRAWBERRY BREAD!

(that's NeNa in the middle)

This is my FAVORITE Christmas Recipe and the ONLY thing I can make from scratch...seriously!

It's is my sweet little Nena's recipe from a long time ago. I still have the original recipe that is written in her handwriting and I still use it when I bake this at Christmastime, it still makes me smile everytime I pull it out.

It is so yummy, I just had to share it! So get out those pencils and recipe cards and get to crackin'!

Nena's Homemade Strawberry Bread

Mix:

3 cups of flour

2 cups of sugar

1 tsp soda

2 tsp cinnamon

Then add:

4 eggs

1/2 cup cooking oil

(2) 10 oz. pkg. of frozen strawberries

1/2 cup of chopped pecans

Mix well. Bake at 350 about 40 minutes.

It makes 3 of the big aluminum bread tins or around 7 of the extra small tins.

(And it's REAL good for you too!!)

It's Been a While......

......Since our last official Family Photo.....almost nine years to be exact.

This family photo was taken one month after we nearly lost Hallie. It has always meant alot to me and has always hung in our front entryway. It is a constant reminder to me of the gifts that God has so richly blessed me with and allowed me to keep. I will forever treasure this portrait as it captures a time in my life that I never want to forget.....

a time of darkness and fear,

a time of completely putting myself at the feet of my Lord and begging Him to heal my baby,

a time of absolute trust in the Lord as He worked in our lives,

a time of actually feeling His arms wrapped around me and my child as she struggled,

and a time of Rejoicing as He has made His presence known in so many special ways.

This portrait will always be our "first Family photo" and will always hang in our home, but over the years.... WOW! how we have changed and when a very special lady http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ who went through her very own struggles of nearly losing a child, announced she was visiting Texas to do photoshoots...I knew it was time.

"Because we get to eat BUFFALO BALLS!" she said with uncontainable 4th grade pride.

"Whaaaa?" I nervously questioned.

"BUFFALO BALLS! You know B-U-F-F-A-L-O meat rolled into a B-A-L-L!" she spelled out ever so sarcastically, because good grief, what else could I be thinking!?

Hello!? Hence the name BUFFALO BALLS!

"OH! Buffalo Balls, of course...Yum, I wish I was in 4th grade!"

My question is.....when the teacher told them what Thursday's "palate-friendly" lesson would hold, how did she do that with a straight face?

Kellyskornerblog.com is hosting "Show Us Your Life" and today's featured room is the BATHROOM! Since I just redid the girl's bathroom last summer, I thought it would be fun to participate.

I always loved this bathroom, but the girls began to complain that it was a bit too "Blahhh"....I had to agree, so we decided to add some color! I took some "Blahh Before" pictures, before I went MODGEPODGE NUTS on the place.

The cabinets were for sure in need of some fabulous color....

and now I love me some BLUE cabinets!

I call this the ModgePodge Remodel, because after this bathroom redo, I should own stock in Hobby Lobby and it's ModgePodge aisle.
It was a messy project, but lots of fun!
